1. Who We Are

Bearing Labs LLC ("Bearing Labs," "we," "us") operates bearinglabs.io. This policy explains what information we collect through this pre-launch placeholder site and how we use it. It will be updated when the full service launches. You can reach us at contact@bearinglabs.io.

2. What We Collect

We collect only what you choose to give us through our forms:

• Need story text — the description of a problem you submit through the "Tell Us Your Need Story" form;
• Email address — provided with a need story for follow-up, or through the "Sign Up As a Contributor" form;
• Technical data — standard information such as IP address, browser type, and request logs, processed automatically by our infrastructure providers (see Section 4).

We do not run analytics, tracking, or advertising on this site.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To read and respond to your need story;
• To contact you about your submission or about contributor opportunities;
• To formulate technical challenges from need stories — in anonymized or abstracted form, as described in our Terms of Service;
• To protect the site from spam and abuse.

Our legal bases for this processing are your consent (you choose to submit the forms) and our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site and developing our service.

4. Third-Party Processors

Form submissions and site delivery involve these providers:

• Formspark (formspark.io) — processes form submissions on our behalf as a data processor and delivers them to contact@bearinglabs.io. Formspark documents its GDPR compliance (https://formspark.io/legal/gdpr/) and states that it operates from Belgium and stores the data you provide in Ireland, within the European Union;
• Google reCAPTCHA (https://policies.google.com/privacy) — protects our forms from bots; reCAPTCHA collects device and interaction data, which is subject to Google's privacy policy;
• GitHub Pages (https://docs.github.com/en/pages) — hosts the site and may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security purposes.

5. Local Storage

After you submit a form, the site stores a small flag in your browser's localStorage so we can remember that you already submitted. This flag stays on your device, is not used for tracking, and is removed when you clear your browser data. Apart from anything reCAPTCHA sets, we set no cookies.

6. Data Retention

Submissions arrive in our email inbox and are kept only as long as needed to follow up with you and to develop challenges from need stories. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 7).

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@bearinglabs.io and we will respond within a reasonable time. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

Bearing Labs LLC is based in the United States, and some of our providers may process data on US servers. Formspark states that it stores form submission data in the European Union (Ireland), but submissions are delivered to our email inbox, which we access from the United States. If you submit information from outside the US, you understand it will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, including when the full service launches. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
